AMG Sydney has been invited as a nominee for a GERMAN DESIGN AWARD 2019 – Excellent Communications Design, by the board of the German Design Council.

The German Design Award is an internaitonal pacesetter when it comes to current design practice. The award bestows accolades solely on those projects that are pioneering in the German and International design sphere.

The World's first Mercedes - AMG dealership has opened in Sydney, offering AMG customer new and used vehical sales, finance and service with the faciilty located in the Kingsford Smith Airport Precinct.

AMG Sydney’s architecture is based on that of the AMG building in Affalterbach, Germany. The 1000 square-metre, two-storey building’s exterior has an ‘LED façade’ that during daylight hours features prominent white louvres and at night is lit up in white and red.

AMG tapped architectural firm Turner for the honour of designing the space. Built over a two-year period, the striking building is modelled on the architecture of the current AMG building in Affalterbach, Germany. The result is attention-grabbing both inside and out.

By daylight, the exterior features prominent white louvres and dynamic diagonals. By night, the LED-equipped facade is illuminated in white and red, proudly designed by Haron Robson.

Inside, Turner aimed for a showroom-meets-museum aesthetic with a focus on lighting to set the scene. The interior design is deliberately kept simple, but keen-eyed visitors are sure to notice details like the asphalt flooring, inset LED lighting, and painted road markings that allude to the showroom’s racing roots.

Having already walked away with a Good Design Australia Win, we are excited about being a nominee in the German Design Awards.
