EngineeringWise

a Haron Robson service

Why it exists

After 40 years of designing, documenting, coordinating and fixing buildings, one thing became clear:

Most projects don’t struggle because of poor intent or lack of effort.
They struggle because the brief isn’t clearthe scope is fragmented, and decisions are made in isolation — without anyone empowered to step back and ask, “Are we actually solving the right problem?”

Engineering Wise exists to address that gap.

It is Haron Robson’s advisory practice — focused on developing robust briefsdefining clear scopesreviewing decisions, and assembling the right teams to support clients and end users from the outset.

Not to replace designers, engineers or contractors.
But to set them up for success, align expectations, and give projects a clearer path forward.

What Engineering Wise does

Engineering Wise works with clients and end users to define, test and refine the foundations of a project — before complexity, cost and risk are locked in.

We do this by:

  • Developing and validating project briefs
  • Clarifying and structuring consultant and contractor scopes
  • Reviewing concepts, strategies and assumptions
  • Assembling and coordinating bespoke advisory teams drawn from Haron Robson, our extended network, and industry specialists

Each engagement is:

  • Purpose-built
  • Independent
  • Unconstrained by discipline or delivery model

We don’t sell a fixed service.
We solve the problem in front of you.

That may involve:

  • Resetting a brief that has grown unclear or conflicted
  • Reviewing designs or strategies before they become expensive to unwind
  • Stress-testing assumptions around power, technology, services, staging, operations or future flexibility
  • Bringing designers, engineers, operators and builders together to align intent, feasibility and outcomes
  • Acting as an independent technical sounding board for boards, developers, architects or operators

Sometimes we lead.
Sometimes we facilitate.
Sometimes we simply ask the questions no one else is asking.

With or without design services

Engineering Wise can be delivered:

  • As a standalone advisory service, or
  • Alongside Haron Robson’s design and documentation services, where appropriate

Our advice is not dependent on downstream scope.
Its value comes from independence, experience and clarity — not from selling the next stage.

How it’s different

Engineering Wise is not about “doing the drawings”.

It’s about seeing the whole system:

  • Project intent and user needs
  • Technical reality
  • Construction risk
  • Operational outcomes
  • Long-term adaptability

We work across boundaries, not within silos.

There are:

  • No preset limits
  • No single-discipline bias
  • No obligation to protect a future scope

That freedom is what allows us to add real value.

Who it’s for

Engineering Wise is for clients who:

  • Are dealing with complexity, not templates
  • Want clarity before committing to cost and form
  • Value judgement as much as capability
  • Understand that the cheapest early decision is often the most expensive later

It supports:

  • Developers and asset owners
  • Architects and design leaders
  • Contractors and delivery teams
  • Operators inheriting someone else’s decisions

The outcome

Clearer briefs.
Better-defined scopes.
Aligned teams.
Fewer surprises.

Solutions that are:

  • Tailored, not generic
  • Grounded in real experience
  • Imaginative but practical
  • Clear-eyed about risk, cost and consequence

Advice that is genuinely Engineering Wise.

In NSW, upgrading electrical capacity isn’t a single transaction with the network. It’s a regulated pathway, and the quality of decisions made right at the front end determine whether the process feels straightforward or becomes slow, expensive and frustrating. That front end is where Accredited Service Providers — ASPs — come in.
