As the price of battery storage decreases, the viability of building large scale battery storage increases.

On October 23 the Australian Renewable Energy Agency officially commissioned a 30 MW battery storage system in Victoria. See link to arena.gov.au article for further information:

Last November Tesla’s 100 MW battery storage plant was turned on in South Australia.

These systems are a welcome addition to the grid as they provide storage for excess electricity produced by intermittent renewable energy sources such as solar and wind and improve the reliability of power systems to meet peak demands.
