NECA has successfully negotiated a five month extension for Building Wiring Cable marking compliance with the NSW Department of Fair Trading. This means suppliers and wholesalers have more time to ensure their stock of Building Wiring Cable, which became a declared electrical article in NSW in 2017, complies with the new labelling requirements.
Based on concerns raised by NECA members and industry suppliers, NECA National CEO, Suresh Manickam and NSW Executive Director, Oliver Judd, met with NSW Fair Trading yesterday and reached an agreement to extend the date of compliance from 29 January to 1 July 2018. This is a significant win for NECA members and the sector. As NSW Fair Trading has advised NECA there will be no chance of further extensions, this requirement is to be achieved by 1 July 2018.
