Walsh Bay Redevelopment

The Haron Robson team were involved in the Walsh Bay Redevelopment by Mirvac, spanning a decade from 1996-2006. Located in the Sydney Harbour, this endeavour is celebrated as a prominent example of urban renewal in Australia. As part of this transformation, we contributed our electrical and lighting design services to illuminate 200 apartments, 16 terraces, commercial spaces, and theatres.

Partnering with architects including PTW, HPA, Bates Smart, Tropman & Tropman, Clive Lucas, Stapleton and Partners, we ensured the seamless integration of our electrical and lighting designs with the overall architectural vision. Today, the Walsh Bay precinct stands as a vibrant cultural and residential hub, complete with a 857-seat drama theatre, restaurants, cafés, parks and scenic boardwalks. The redevelopment successfully preserves heritage structures while infusing innovative design and construction techniques, breathing new life into the area.

We have completed numerous apartment consultations and renovations for individual owners in the time since completion, as well as providing engineering support to the facilities management.

The Walsh Bay Redevelopment has garnered numerous awards, including the prestigious Royal Australian Institutes of Architects Walter Burley Griffin Urban Design Award. It stands as a testament to the possibilities of urban renewal, revitalising an iconic Sydney landmark.
