Macquarie Centre Redevelopment
Sydney
After collaborative consultation with the Westfield concept designers and architects, Haron Robson lightmatters® team prepared specialist
lighting concepts for this major redevelopment including common mall areas including the food precinct areas, fresh food / café market, mall
entries, public corridors, public lift lobbies and public amenities. This major retail centre expanded by around 38,000sqm to a total
of 138,500sqm on completion of the redevelopment, making it the largest suburban shopping centre in Sydney at the time.
The brief was to prepare a lighting concept which would integrate with the internal architectural fabric of the retail malls including
preliminary design and phase 4 documentation.
The concept designs included full design of the mall ceiling lighting, decorative specialist lighting elements in ceilings, in and
around voids, escalators, columns, common walls; specialist lighting concepts for both entries to the Centre and the retail common areas on 3
levels including malls, food precinct areas, fresh food/cafe market and public corridors and lift lobbies.
