With winter just around the corner, there’s only one thing on our minds here at Haron Robson HQ: when will Vivid Sydney and Sparc Design kick off for 2014?!?

It’s that time of year again, and excitement is building here at Haron Robson HQ for this winter’s VIVID Sydney festival. In its fifth year and with the program almost tripling in size, VIVID 2013 is set to be the biggest and best yet!

‘Waterfront transformation’…’Lifestyle destination’…’Emphasis on sport, health & fitness’… Not the phrases one would usually associate with the redevelopment of a leagues club. Yet those are exactly the terms used to describe the changes afoot in The Shire, with the redevelopment of the Cronulla Sutherland Leagues Club’s land holdings set to raise the bar for the industry.

Forming the first stage of a large waterside development on the western shore of Homebush Bay, the Quarterdeck buildings at Wentworth Point Marina have recently been launched to much enthusiasm from those keen to live a ‘Riviera lifestyle’ in Sydney.

Champagne and cocktails were par for the course as Christian Dior Couture, part of the behemoth luxury group LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton, recently celebrated the opening of the first Dior flagship store in Australia, with over 250 VIP guests and the fashion media in full force.

Everyone seems to be whispering about Energy Savings Certificates (ESC’s), but few seem to understand the system. Fewer still are taking advantage of the scheme’s benefits. The Hilton Hotel in Sydney is an exception, and their pro-active approach to energy efficiency and ESC-creation has enabled them to cut energy use and upgrade their lighting system, for virtually no capital outlay.

The well-trodden footpaths of Pitt Street Mall will this month be quite a lot brighter for the steady stream of commuters and Christmas shoppers, after the Lord Mayor of Sydney, Clover Moore, switched on the new catenary lighting system on Thursday, 3rd December.

With the lights twinkling, the tinsel sparkling and the presents overflowing the confines of the Christmas tree 'zone' (we're engineers and designers, we like to create zones!), it's definitely feeling Christmassy here at Haron Robson HQ.

At the biggest event of the year for the lighting industry, Haron Robson's lighting design team walked away with another IES Luminaire Design Award for their Vivid Festival light art sculpture, for the second year running.

In mid – 2011, Haron Robson was engaged to upgrade the power supply to a building and that enquiry led to us to lighting the refurbishment of the landmark Sydney restaurant Pruniers, which now known as Chiswick Restaurant and operated by Matt Moran and Peter Sullivan.

The annual National Trust Heritage Awards celebrate the contribution of those involved in projects which promote the conservation of Australia’s environmental, built or cultural heritage, and this year saw entries from large corporations, small companies, government bodies and individuals.

Our team was again recognised for their lighting design skills when  IES: The Lighting Society  presented Haron Robson with Lighting Design Awards for our lighting designs at Bankstown District Sports Club: Grand Ballroom and the Paddington Reservoir Gardens.

Rooty Hill RSL Australia’s largest RSL club, announced the completion of its environmentally tri-generation power plant on Tuesday 21st September 2010. Tri-generation is the simultaneous production of three forms of energy: electricity, heating and cooling from a single system. It is nearly three times more energy efficient than a coal-fired power station.

Earlier this year Haron Robson - lightmatters® was awarded a NSW IES Luminaire Design Award for St Peters Cathedral. This special luminaire (light fitting) was developed in conjunction with Clive Lucas Stapelton and Partners during the restoration of this classic Horbury Hunt designed building. The purpose of these awards is to promote quality in the design and manufacture of luminaires within NSW. It is the second time Haron Robson have won this award and follows awards for lighting installations received in late 2009 for Bankstown District Sports Club's Grand Ballroom and TZG's Paddington Reservoir Gardens.

From 1 May the new BCA 2010 came into force with tighter energy limits for lighting. Haron Robson's lighting design studio has developed a new lighting energy calculator to assist our Clients in meeting these new targets.
